Our Mission

Education is not a privilege. It is a fundamental right.

IKIGAI has the aim to help students who are struggling financially and cannot afford private tuitions. We believe that every student, at any age, deserves access to quality learning.

"However, if any student from any background approaches us, our volunteers do their best to help."

We connect these students with passionate volunteer teachers, creating a sanctuary for learning, growth, and boundless possibility.

A Personal Invitation

"We started Ikigai because we saw too much brilliance lost to poverty."

Dear friend,

We aren't just teaching math or reading; we are providing a safe space where children and teenagers feel valued, heard, and empowered to dream beyond their circumstances.

At Ikigai, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to discover their purpose. Inspired by the Japanese concept of “ikigai” — meaning a reason for being — our mission is to guide individuals, especially young people, toward meaningful personal and professional paths.

Due to COVID, the tuition has been online (through WhatsApp, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc). And since it worked we continued it online itself…

I invite you to a personal conversation. Whether you want to volunteer, donate, or simply learn more about our mission, I want to hear from you. Let's discuss how we can change lives together.

Voices of Impact

Stories from our community.

Hear directly from the students, parents, and volunteers who make Ikigai a place of hope and transformation.

"Being both a student and a volunteer has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my journey. As a student, I felt supported, encouraged, and truly seen — not just for my academic abilities, but as a person growing and learning at my own pace. The environment created was one of kindness, patience, and genuine care, which made all the difference. Volunteering, on the other hand, allowed me to give back what I had received. It was incredibly fulfilling to support others, share knowledge, and be part of a community that uplifts one another. There is something very special about being on both sides — learning and teaching — and realizing how powerful compassion and guidance can be. This experience has not only helped me grow academically, but also personally. It has taught me empathy, responsibility, and the importance of creating safe and supportive spaces for others. I am deeply grateful to have been part of this journey, and I will always carry these lessons with me."

Ritisha - Student and Volunteer

"Joining the Ikigai NGO tuition program was a turning point for me. The tutors don't just help with homework; they actually take the time to make sure we understand the 'why' behind what we’re learning. It’s a supportive environment where I finally feel confident enough to ask questions and strive for my goals. I’m so grateful for the community they’ve built here!"

Zara - Student

"Ikigai helped me grow in so many ways as an individual and also where I had the opportunity to be in an amazing team. Thank you Ikigai"
